## Send us your request

We reply within 2 working days with the right service, its price and how to start.

## What you get

- Your return, prepared from your documents and the tax authority's pre-filled data.
- Foreign income declared on Anexo J, and relief for foreign tax claimed, where you have income from abroad.
- Your approval before anything is submitted.
- Submission on the Portal das Finanças, with the proof in your portal.

## How it works

1. [Order your return](#request). From February, we ask for your documents in your portal.
2. We prepare the return and send it for your approval.
3. We file it in the April to June season, and the proof of submission is in your portal.

## The dates that matter

1 April to 30 June 2027

The filing window for 2026 income under the current law. 30 June is fixed and does not move to the next working day.

**Late or wrong.** A late or substitute return is charged at the return price. Earlier years that need advice first: [Putting past years right](/services/past-years/).

## What is not included

- Returns in other countries. Your adviser there files them. Where both returns must be reconciled in full, see [Two-country returns reconciled](/services/cross-border-tax-coordination/).
- A new client's return with no foreign side at all. Our partner accountant prepares it and bills you directly.

**If you are on Annual Tax Support.** Your return is included. [See Annual Tax Support](/services/annual-tax-support/)

- > I’ve really enjoyed working with Telmo, after being a bit daunted submitting my self employed tax returns in Portugal, it was a bit overwhelming learning a new system after coming from the Uk. Telmo has put my mind at ease, being both friendly and professional he has resolved many things for me, making my life in Portugal feel a lot easier and I look forward to continue working with him throughout the years. I’d highly recommend him.

- > I would be at a massive loss without the guidance, expertise, and support of Taxbordr's team. Filing taxes can never be truly easy, especially when it comes to filing in two countries (Portugal and US) as this navigation can be very complex for the less-experienced. I am beyond happy and thankful for the team's services in taking care of my filing obligations et al ... constant availability for enquiries, thorough, easy to manage, and I know I will entrust my tax filing needs etc. to the team here.

- > In one year I had UK consulting income, RSUs from a former employer, a small Portuguese sole-trader activity, and questions about whether IFICI was even available to me. I did not know what belonged on the return and what was just noise. Taxbordr separated the income streams, flagged the documents I was missing, and gave me a filing plan I could actually follow.

- > I had French rental income, a UK freelance contract, and Portuguese salary from a Lisbon employer. I knew I needed IFICI but had no idea which streams to declare in which box. Telmo's team built a declaration schedule that showed exactly what went where, and I stopped losing sleep over whether I'd missed something.

## Questions

### Is this the US IRS?

It is not. In Portugal, IRS is the personal income tax (Imposto sobre o Rendimento das Pessoas Singulares), and the return is the Modelo 3, filed online on the Portal das Finanças.

### Which year is this for?

Income earned in 2026, filed in the April to June 2027 season. For a 2025 return still to file or correct, see [Putting past years right](/services/past-years/).

### How do you handle foreign income?

We classify your foreign income and report it in the appropriate annexes, including Anexo J where relevant. We check your tax regime and any applicable treaty before claiming an exemption or credit for foreign tax.

### I have NHR or IFICI. Does that change my return?

Yes: each regime changes the annexes and the rate on the eligible income. We identify your regime and the records it needs before we prepare the return.

### Do you also file my return in the other country?

We prepare your Portuguese return; your adviser abroad files the return in that country. If the two returns need reconciling, [Two-country returns reconciled](/services/cross-border-tax-coordination/) covers our work with your adviser.

### When will I get my refund?

Where a refund is due on a return filed within the ordinary filing period, the normal legal deadline is 31 August.
