The Cross-Border Tax Diagnostic
A structured review of your cross-border tax position — covering residency, income classification, applicable regimes, treaty implications, and compliance obligations — delivered as a written memo with prioritised next steps.
Led by Telmo Ramos, international tax consultant with prior experience at KPMG Luxembourg and EY Portugal. Member of the Ordem dos Economistas and the International Fiscal Association.
€500 — credited in full toward any future engagement.
The TAXBORDR Tax Diagnostic is a paid, structured cross-border tax review for individuals and business owners with connections to Portugal. It includes a 30-minute consultation with Telmo Ramos and a written memo delivered within 48 hours. The fee is €500 and is credited in full toward any future engagement.
What You Receive
The Written Memo
Delivered typically within 48 hours of the consultation. This is the core deliverable — a document you keep, reference, and act on.
The Consultation
A 30-minute tax consultation with Telmo Ramos. This is a working session, not an introductory call.
The memo covers:
- Situation summary — Our understanding of your residency status, income sources, assets, and cross-border exposure
- Opportunity mapping — Available regimes, treaty provisions, and planning strategies specific to your corridor and circumstances
- Risk identification — Classification errors, reporting gaps, missed deadlines, or positions that may not hold under scrutiny
- Recommended next steps — Prioritised, specific, and sequenced. What needs attention first, what can wait, and what requires further analysis
The memo is written in plain language. Where technical references are necessary, they are explained.
Before the consultation, you receive a brief intake form. The more detail you provide upfront, the more productive the session.
Who the Tax Diagnostic Is For
Entrepreneurs and business owners
You have a company abroad, clients in multiple countries, or are considering restructuring where your business is based.
Freelancers and self-employed
You work remotely, earn income from multiple jurisdictions, or need clarity on regime selection and tax obligations in Portugal.
Retirees and pension holders
You receive pension income from abroad and need to understand treaty treatment, withholding, and reporting obligations in Portugal.
Anyone with a cross-border question
You have a specific question about how two or more tax jurisdictions interact — and you want a clear, documented answer.
How This Differs From a Free Consultation
Written deliverable
The memo is yours to keep. It documents our analysis and recommendations.
Working session
We do not spend 30 minutes explaining what TAXBORDR does. We spend it on your situation.
Cross-border depth
This is not a generalist accountant learning your situation as they go.
How It Works
1. Book and complete the intake form
Choose a time on the booking calendar. After booking, you receive a brief intake form to describe your situation and list your questions.
2. Consultation with Telmo Ramos
A 30-minute working session focused entirely on your cross-border tax position. We cover residency, income, obligations, and planning options.
3. Receive your written memo
Within 48 hours, you receive a written memo documenting our analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and listing prioritised next steps.
Pricing
€500 — one-time fee for the Tax Diagnostic.
The fee covers the 30-minute consultation and the written memo. If you proceed with any TAXBORDR service, the €500 is credited in full toward the engagement fee. You do not pay twice for the same work.
If the diagnostic reveals that your situation is simpler than expected and does not require ongoing advisory, we will tell you honestly. You keep the memo and the analysis.
What the Diagnostic Typically Uncovers
Regime misalignment
You may be on a tax regime that does not match your actual income profile or long-term plans — costing you money or creating unnecessary compliance risk.
Classification errors
Income that is being reported in the wrong category, taxed at the wrong rate, or attributed to the wrong jurisdiction.
Missed coordination
Treaty provisions, foreign tax credits, or exemption methods that apply to your corridor but are not being used.
Deadline exposure
Filing obligations, registration deadlines, or election windows that are approaching or have already been missed.
Structural questions
Whether your current setup — personal, corporate, or both — is the right structure for your cross-border activity going forward.
