Putting past years right · Change
In short
A first return filed after the filing window is late, and a return with an error is corrected with a substitute return. Before anything is filed, we set out what to correct and the consequences, such as a fine or interest, which depend on your facts. Then we prepare each year's return, you approve it, and we file it.
What decides it:
- how many years are affected, and what was missed or wrong in each;
- whether foreign income is involved;
- whether the tax authority has already written to you.
If a letter has already arrived with a deadline, see A letter from the tax authority.
What you get
- Advice on what to correct in one or two years, and the consequences.
- Each year's late or substitute return, prepared, approved by you and filed.
- Proof of each submission in your portal.
- A call with your adviser when your case needs it.
How it works
- Send your request. We reply within 2 working days with the price, a start date and your payment link.
- After payment, you upload your documents in your portal, such as the returns already filed and the income records for each year.
- Your advice reaches your portal, signed by your adviser; we then send each return for your approval and file it, with the proof in your portal.
The dates that matter
Since 1 July 2026, a first return for 2025 income is late: it was due by 30 June 2026. The window for 2026 income opens on 1 April 2027.
What is not included
- Replies in a prior hearing (audição prévia) and administrative claims, which are quoted separately. Where a reply argues a point of law, we prepare it and you sign and file it in your own name.
- Court representation, which is outside this service.
What clients say
I came in with two late Portuguese returns, an inherited apartment sale, and some embarrassment about having waited too long. Telmo was direct about the exposure, but never dramatic. The work felt founder-led in the practical sense: one person understood the facts, challenged the weak spots, and stayed accountable for the advice.
Portuguese-South African dual national, Algarve Taxbordr filed my Portuguese return and sent my US CPA a coordination summary that recovered foreign tax credits I had been leaving on the table for two years.
